About Bee Chocolate

A personal journey shaped by simplicity, quality, and a desire to do things differently.

Meet Janette

Bee Chocolate began as a personal journey, to create chocolate that felt more natural, more satisfying, and more considered.

With a background in fitness, wellbeing, and craftsmanship, I’ve always cared about what we put into our bodies and how it makes us feel. That mindset shaped the way I approached chocolate.

I wanted something simpler. A chocolate that still felt like a treat, but made with more thoughtful ingredients and without compromise.

The Journey Behind
Bee Chocolate

How Bee Chocolate came to life

Stripping things back to the essentials, Bee Chocolate is made using just cacao and honey, carefully balanced to create something simple and deeply enjoyable.

Most chocolate relies on refined sugar and unnecessary ingredients. I wanted to do things differently, creating something more honest while still delivering the richness and satisfaction people expect from chocolate.

That’s where Bee Chocolate first took shape.

What began as a small, personal idea has grown into carefully crafted chocolate, made by hand in Tarland, Aberdeenshire.

“Chocolate doesn’t need refined sugar to feel like a treat.”
— Janette

The Role of Honey

Honey isn’t just a sweetener.
It’s part of what makes
 Bee Chocolate different.

Using local honey brings a softer, more rounded sweetness that complements the depth of dark chocolate, without the need for refined sugar.

It also connects the chocolate back to place, to local producers, local bees, and the natural landscape of Aberdeenshire.

At one stage, I was approached by a local producer to create a special chocolate using their honey as part of a Christmas hamper.  It was a natural fit, and a reminder of how well this chocolate lends itself to thoughtful, local collaborations.
